I have been watching my Fargesia Nitida and it has been getting little white speckles on its leaves and dieing. I had 2 other bamboo next to this one that was not doing this, so i took a branch on the spectabilis and put it on the fargesia and it also got white spots:

Fargesa nitida can take temps low enough to kill the mites. I don't suggest you take them outside if they have been houseplants, mabey you could try easing them out. You could try a systemic like merrit. I have had bad luck with bamboo inside and good luck with it outside, especially pest wise.
I have had luck using ortho systemic insect killer on the bamboo that I have brought inside for the winter. It can be purchased inexpensively at most box stores. As a side note I usually put a drop of dish soap in my mix to help as a surfactant or wetting agent. My moso was getting beat up pretty bad by spider mites indoors and I sprayed it (outside) and then I brought it back in after it had dried off and when the new growth came I didn't notice any damage on the newer growth.
I would also say spider mites... pretty common on indoor plants who are not happy. misting will help keep them in check, but definitely use a systemic insecticide- I have had good luck with the bayer brand systemic insect killer.
I have the same problem in the summer with one of my heat sensitive bamboos- Thamnocalamus aristatus- when whe start hitting the 100+ days in August, it starts stressing and will get spider mites.
Is there anyway i can make a spray that will kill them without going and buying anything like mixing soap and other chemicals? Could i use seven insect spray that i use for my garden tomato and other plants?
In my opinion, you should not be using Sevin for anything anymore, esp if you eat it, if you want to go chemical, Eight is the newer, safer type. A systemic like Merit is as at least as easy to apply. If your plant was properly hardened off, a spell outdoors in the cold might even do the trick.
recipe for houseplant mist. best used twice daily if air is very dry.
1/2 tsp instant tea
5 drops liquid dish soap
5 drops ammonia
1 drop antiseptic mouthwash
1 qt water
Good stuff for mites (even bamboo mites) is ag oil and ag soap (spreader) mix. It will kill the mites, larvae and eggs all at once. It will also penetrate the tiny webbing under the leaves. Remove all the dead leaves and throw them in the garbage or burn them. Take the boo outside when temps are below 60 degrees and soak it with that spray, and leve it set for a hour to dry.
