Will this work in 3-GALLON POTS?????

Hi,
Yesterday I acquired a LOT of MOSO Rhizomes.....Some are 10 ft long....not much dirt (if any) were left on the rhizomes.....just bare root.

My question is, can I section these Rhizomes in 4-5" sections and plant in a 3-GAL container??.....I'm making sure that the sections have good roots and some have buds on them....Will this work ok?

Robert Young suggests 13" long and less than 3 year old rhizomes. (us dept of ag. handbook #193, available online)

I do that type of plant with nigra during the winter. Some won't make it but worth a try. I have had good luck with a little longer pieces and doing mass plantings in big nursery pots with 10-20 rhizome cuttings.

I hope I haven't done all this work for nothing......I have worked my tail off the last two days......Again, The Rhizomes were GREEN and they had good roots and Buds starting to develop......I sectioned them in 4-6" Sections and each 3-GAL pot has between 2 and 4 sections......I hope I have at least 60-70% sucess with this undertaking......again, Lots of work was put into this.

Very cool! You think those moso shoots are tiny, you should see Moso seedlings, tiny and hairy.
