P.Bambusoides growth

Post by CJW »

I am going to post my pictures of my grove this year soon.

Does anyone want to share their Bambusoides experiences with me?
Anyone in the PNW area want to share?

I'll be curious to see your pictures. I planted two 2 gal plants in late fall and they aren't doing well at all - mostly dead above ground. I am crossing my fingers and hoping for the best come spring time, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe those rhizomes will hold out that long...

I got a 1 gal p. bambusoides from fredgpops in late spring that is filling up a 10 gal pot with numberous shoots and roots coming out the bottom. It will be in the ground this spring.

The new posting of a Bambusoides photo in the database here shows a pretty good crop of bamboo mites - not sure who posted it, is from the BC area, I believe.

Not sure how you could see the mites? The new posting was from me.

there is some patching from mites on the leaves. That is to be expected here.

While at the ABS convention I got some pictures of mite damage at the SF Zoo. I will see if I can find them.

The legal issues that will arise when the undead walk the earth are legion, and addressing them all is well beyond what could reasonably be accomplished in this brief Essay. Indeed, a complete treatment of the tax issues alone would require several volumes.

mites are common all around here too. it has been hard to keep from getting them in my collection- you have to quarentine every plant just to make sure. I know several people who have large collections that are covered in them. I dont think there is a thing you can do about it in large groves.

Bamboo...Please note... This plant is seriously addictive and you may lose interest in other, less rewarding plants!

I bought some P.Nigra from a guy in south Louisiana yesterday that had some huge P.Bambusoides, they must have been 50' or taller and he is having to control the spread; it has only been in the ground for 10-12yrs. This bamboo was much larger than the Moso at Bellinggrath Gardens. It must be that rich LA black dirt.
