It's either that are hurricanes for the ABS Conferences. Also earthquakes have been a problem before.BooKing wrote:Wow, that's a might big quake that hit there. Is Brad's place on the big island?

It sounds like Hilo did not receive much damage but I am wondering if the airports will be open tomorrow when I am scheduled to arrive.
The field trips might have to be changed if the roads are still blocked.

No power means no flights. People have to go through security and can't w/o power. Life is never dull that's for sure.
I was this close to booking a reservation today...

The power is on in Hilo so the Hilo airport should be fine and ATA flies directly from the mainland to Hilo.
Most of the other airlines fly into another island then have another plane to Hilo.
I guess I will have to wait till tomorrow to find out if I can get there.
I did get an email from the HC rep.

Aloha
My house did the hula for 45 seconds this morning . Nothing too exciting but it did change my mind about sleeping in. I have not heard of any damage in Hilo but the Kona side got a little more shook up . Maybe business will pick up some for the guys selling pre-fab bamboo houses .
It's almost a tradition for some kind of natural disaster to precede the ABS annual conference.
Hope to see everyone soon , I strongly suspect we will all have a great time.

I noticed, but I knew the prize wouldn't be a new parvifolia for me.
