Anyone near New Orleans?

Post by mantis »

I'm going to be in the Big Easy from Sept. 29th - Oct. 4th. If anyone is in the area and wants some free food/drinks let me know... The annual Society of Exploration Geophysicists is in town, so I'll be there. There is a ton of money flying around the oil industry these days, so there are numerous parties/activities going on, plus I have a pretty healty expense account, so if you want to grab dinner it's on me. :)

My company has chartered a couple restored train cars that we will be traveling from Houston -> N.O. in, and then on Mon & Tues we are having parties on the train cars (free food & open bar).

Soooo, if anyone is in town, and wants a little kick back from the outrageous gas prices let me know.

And, hopefully it's rains loads whilst you're away :D
Bamboo...Please note... This plant is seriously addictive and you may lose interest in other, less rewarding plants!

Well I'm back. I have a ton of pics, but they all need to be resized.

The trip was unbelievable... 5 star service. The two train cars that we were on were from 1955, and were restored 3 years ago at a cost of ~$4million each  There were 4 of us travelling, and we had 3 on board staff (chef and 2 stewards). It was an absolutely amazing trip that I will not soon forget.

Here are a couple teaser pics. I'll make a photo album in the next couple of days with more pics.

No bamboo.

The bridge was to get over the Mississippi river. I have no idea how high we were, but I definitely wouldn't want to jump off. That picture is when we were about halfway down too... I guess there are some pretty large ships that come into the New Orleans port.
