Best time of year to take rufa divisions?

Since rufa shoots so early (in about a month here), is it better to take divisions before it shoots, or wait until later in the summer? If later, when? June?

I have had the best luck doing it in advance of the shooting

Any problems with the ground still being frozen? The couple top inches are thawed, but it's still frozen below that it seems. We are getting a lot of rain today, but it's supposed to be getting down into the teens (F) for the next few days. Looks like I'll be waiting a couple more weeks.

If you're grounds frozen i'd wait to take the divisions.

It's tough as old boots though ... at least over here in the UK. I've taken rufa divisions from spring to autumn without any problems.
