Wanted List

Post by nu2bamboo »

O.k. guys some help here would be great.

I am making a list of must have boo before the colder months arrive. If anyone of friendly individuals at bambooweb would like to help a fellow boo lover out just let me know. If anyone has some they could spare I will be willing to possibley trade or OTHER. My trading options are very limited. I am just starting my collection.

My list of must have:

Dendrocalamus minor 'Amoenus'
Bambusa pervariabilis 'Viridistriata'
Bambusa luteostriata
Bambusa chungii 'Barballata'
Bambusa emeiensis 'Flavidorivens'
Bambusa textilis 'Kanapaha' Royal Bamboo
Schizostachyum brachycladum
Bambusa luteostriata Gigantochloa atroviolacea
Bambusa textilis var.albostriata

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I don't have any place locally I can find these. I am also skeptical about ordering online. I need to find a reasonable honest seller.

Thanks in advance guys.

Where is Spring Hill?

I got my D. minor 'Amoenus' from Bamboo Texas. http://www.bambootexas.com/

They ship. My plants are doing absolutely phenomenal... I planted them (5 gallon) at the end of August, and they each have 10'+ shoots.

I have a couple of 5 gal. pots of Dendrocalamus minor 'Amoenus', but they are fairly tall and wouldn't fit in a car.

I am in Spring Hill Florida.

Roy,

The last time I was at your place I had my little blue car and they wouldn't fit. Besides I think I had the trunk and back seat filled with bamboo. I will have to come down with my truck for the D. Minor Amoenus. I will set up a time good for you.

Thanks.

Anyone have some in their private collection they are willing to part with let me know.

Bambusa textilis 'Kanapaha' Royal Bamboo

I acquired some Bambusa textilis 'Kanapaha' Royal Bamboo from the late Richard Waldron's house in Feb. 2006, and I have yet to be able to find a consistently distinct difference between it and Bambusa mutabilis. I thought I had found a distinct difference, but it was not a consistent characteristic, so I'm back now at zero.

I don't have any full size B. tex. Kanapaha, so I can't tell you about it. My B. mutabilis grows about 45 feet by 2.25 inches. I've seen the one at Kanapaha, but they wouldn't let me cut one down to get an accurate measurement. And I would be willing to bet that the 50 feet by 2.5 inches, on the B. tex. kanapha, is not an actual measurement by anyone.

Interesting....
Well I got to say that your boo in that pic is without a doubt the best looking specimen of mutabilis I have found while searching the net.
